Project Description
Phase 1 of the Third Street Light Rail Project extended the Muni Metro LRT System through the Third Street alignment to Visitacion Valley. This major 5.4-mile extension enables the entire San Francisco Community and the San Francisco Bay Area through BART to be accessible from anywhere along the Third Street Corridor. The extension restored light rail service to a transit-dependent area of San Francisco for the first time in 50 years. As Prime Consultant, PGH Wong led the joint venture to successfully complete the engineering design of three project segments. The Project included various aspects of design including civil, track/trackway structures, integration with highways, overcrossings and bridges, geotechnical investigations, vibration mitigations, traction power, overhead contact system, communications, signaling, and traffic signaling.
