Project Description

PGH Wong and its key staff have been involved in the design and construction management services including testing and startup of the BART System since the early 1960s.  Under recent general engineering and construction management services contracts, PGH Wong performed both design and construction management services for extensions, passenger station retrofits, seismic retrofits, maintenance facilities and yards, traction power system upgrades, fare collection modernization, and train control and communications system retrofits.  PGH Wong plans and implements a majority of the work with little to no disruptions to ongoing passenger service.    

Key Features

  • Led strategic planning effort to modernize BART’s 43 passenger stations and spearheaded a team of consultants in a collaborative effort with BART to perform a train control technology evaluation study.
  • Managed the efforts for BART’s Core System Impact Study.
  • Managed the construction of seismic retrofits as part of BART’s $1.3 billion earthquake safety program.
  • Performed design and construction management services for Dublin/Pleasanton, Pittsburg-Antioch, Colma, SFO, East Contra Costa, and Warm Springs Extensions.
