Project Description
The Mission Valley West Extension includes 6.3 miles of track from Old Town San Diego to east of Qualcomm Stadium. This was the first phase of the integration of the San Diego Light Rail Transit System into Mission Valley. The rail transit extension resulted in increased transit opportunities for visitors in the previously hilly location near the San Diego River. PGH Wong was responsible for the preliminary and final systems engineering including systems integration and detailed design of the traction power substations, train-to-wayside communications, signaling, and overhead contact wire systems for the extension. Following the design phase, PGH Wong played an instrumental role in the inspection, testing, and startup of the system to a successful and timely completion for Super Bowl XXXII.
