| Wong has been providing engineering services
for design and construction management projects as a Prime Consultant
to the Sacramento Regional Transit District for over 18 years.
Wong's exceptional management skills, close attention to detail,
and stringent QA/QC procedures were critical elements which led
to the success of many Sacramento Regional Transit District's
Projects. These projects totaled over $180 Millions and are summarized
as follows:
Sacramento Sunrise/Gold River Extension
The systems design, performed in two segments, included traction
power substations, power distribution system, train control with
automatic block signaling and highway grade crossing warning systems,
and traffic signaling. Systems integration and coordination between
civil/trackwork and systems construction contracts were critical
elements of the work. Wong was responsible for the overall systems
integration for the extension project including integration with
civil contracts prepared by a separate civil consultant. The first
phase of the project, the Mather Field Extension, included tie-ins
to the existing system, modifications of existing single track
segments to add a second track, and upgrading substations.
Sacramento Mather Field Extension
Project
As prime consultant on the Mather Field Extension Project, Wong
provided Design, Construction Management, Integrated Systems Testing,
and Startup services. This extension project included a half-mile
double tracking to the Starter Line and an additional 2.3-mile
segment extension from Butterfield Road to Mather Field Road.
Careful consideration of tie-ins to the existing system was taken
into account, enabling the construction to be completed with minimal
impact on Regional Transit's daily operations. The entire alignment
was built adjacent to active Union Pacific tracks, which required
nearly daily coordination with the railroad. Wong also managed
the testing and systems startup, bringing the system into operation
within schedule and budget.
Systems Design Criteria
Prior to implementation of the major extension projects, Sacramento
Regional Transit retained Wong to enhance the systems design criteria
for traction power, train control and wayside signaling, and communications.
South Sacramento Corridor Project
As prime consultant to Sacramento Regional Transit, Wong performed
constructability reviews for the bid documents of the South Sacramento
Corridor Project. The objective was to minimize change orders
and avoid claims. The independent constructability reviews were
conducted for construction of the civil/trackwork, wayside signaling,
systems integration, and stations. The utilization of Wong's construction
management database software led to effective and timely reviews.
Double Tracking Project
Wong designed the systems including traction power distribution
and signaling systems for the double-tracking between 59th Street
and Stockton Boulevard. In addition, Wong was prime consultant
providing construction management services for three double tracking
projects. |
