| Wong provided design services as part
of a $112 million design-build contract to construct an Automated
People Mover (APM) System for the North Terminal of the Miami
International Airport. The APM system is an essential part of
a major master plan improvement project for the North Terminal,
a domestic and international airline hub. The system consists
of 8,500 linear feet of elevated guideway in a dual lane, pinched loop configuration with four passenger
stations.
PGH Wong Engineering, Inc. was responsible for the systems and
guideway design for the Design-build contractor. Key elements
include:
- Traction power substations
- Power rails distributing 750 Vdc to the driverless-trains
- Blue Light Systems and communications infrastructure
- Uninterruptible power supplies
- Inductive loops for the advanced communications-based train
control system
- Concrete running surfaces and guidance for the rubber-tired
vehicles
